Miles vs. Driversnote
Driversnote is a cloud mileage tracker for iOS, Android, and the web. The free plan covers 15 trips a month, Pro is $11 a month, and an iBeacon that starts trips when the car starts is free with an annual plan and $40 otherwise. Drives are stored on Driversnote's servers. Miles is a $9.99 a month iPhone app with no cap that stores drives in your own iCloud.
Note. Pricing and limit figures are as of September 2026. Check them again before publish.

The structural difference
Driversnote says the tracking data belongs to you, and it stores that data on its own servers under your account. Miles stores drives on your phone and in the CloudKit database of your own iCloud account. Slipway operates no location servers, so there is no account with us to keep and nothing of yours on our side to lose.
Canada
Driversnote tracks in kilometres and produces reports for a CRA claim. Miles builds the CRA logbook rules into the app. A Canada vehicle is tracked in kilometres, the app keeps the base year, runs the simplified logbook projection, warns when the projection is outside 10 percentage points of the base year, and produces the T2125 Chart A figures. The rules are on the CRA logbook requirements page.
When Driversnote is the better choice
Driversnote is the better choice if you want a hardware beacon so trips start without the phone detecting motion, if you are on Android or need the web app, or if you want a team plan. If you want an iPhone app that keeps your log in your own iCloud and produces the tax-form figures for both countries, Miles covers that.
Switching
Export your Driversnote trips before you cancel. Miles imports a CSV of past trips so the year stays complete. Review note. CSV import of past trips needs a product decision.
Miles is coming soon. It will start with a 14-day free trial and need no account.
