Automatic mileage tracker for iPhone
Miles is coming soon.
Every drive is logged automatically with the date, where you went, why, and how far. Swipe to mark a drive business or personal. At tax time, export the log and the numbers for your return. Your location history stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
Free for 14 days at launch, then $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year. iPhone with iOS 26 or later. United States and Canada tax rules.
The steps the overview video shows are written up in the hero video script.
What it does
- Detects drives on its own and records the route
- Records the date, destination, purpose, and distance the IRS and the CRA require
- Swipe to classify, or set rules so it classifies for you
- Shift mode for delivery and rideshare work
- Parking, tolls, and other car expenses
- IRS mileage rates by period, including the July 2026 change, and CRA rates
- Mileage log PDF, tax summary PDF, CSV, Excel, and QuickBooks export
- No account. Your data lives in your iCloud.
Automatic tracking
Miles notices when you start driving and records until you stop. It uses the iPhone's motion and location services, so it does not need a Bluetooth beacon or a manual start. Start and stop drives yourself from the app, the Live Activity, Control Center, or Shortcuts when you want to.
Classify drives
Each new drive waits at the top of the list. Swipe right for business and left for personal. Set rules for places, work hours, and gig platforms so most drives classify themselves. Shift mode marks every drive between Start shift and End shift as business.
Trip log
Every drive stores the elements Publication 463 lists. The date, the destination, the business purpose, and the miles for that use, plus the time the record was created. Add a drive you missed by choosing two addresses, and Miles computes the distance. Your vehicles, with their odometer readings and date placed in service, live here too.
Reports and exports
Export a mileage log PDF in the IRS Table 5-2 layout, a tax summary with the Schedule C numbers, a CRA logbook in kilometres, CSV, Excel, or the QuickBooks Online import format. Send it to your accountant from the share sheet.
Use case. Delivery and rideshare driving
A DoorDash dinner shift is twenty short drives. Start shift when you open the DoorDash app and End shift when you close it. Miles marks every drive in between as business and combines them into one record of the shift, the way the IRS allows for a route of deliveries.
- Start shift from the app, the Live Activity, or a Shortcut
- Every drive in the shift is business, with no swiping
- The shift becomes one entry with its total miles

Privacy
Miles keeps your location history on your iPhone and syncs it through your own iCloud account. We operate no location servers.
- No account. Download the app and drive.
- Your iCloud, not ours. The log syncs through CloudKit's private database, which only your Apple account can read.
- Nothing to sell. We have no location data to share with advertisers, insurers, or data brokers.
- Works offline. Drives are recorded without a connection. Addresses fill in later.
The app checks for updates and sends crash reports unless you turn that off in Settings. More about the privacy architecture
