Miles vs. TripLog
TripLog made automatic mileage tracking free without limits in 2026, which makes it the free mileage tracker app with no cap on drives. Its Premium plan, $4.99 a month billed annually at $59.99, adds OCR receipt capture, a web app, auto-classification rules, and connections to QuickBooks Online and SAP Concur. It also sells hardware, the TripLog Drive at $79.99 and the Beacon at $19.99. Drives are stored on TripLog's servers. Miles is a $9.99 a month iPhone app that stores drives in your own iCloud.

The structural difference
TripLog's free unlimited tracking is the acquisition funnel for its Premium plan and its team business, and every plan stores drives on TripLog's servers. Miles has no free tier. Its price pays for an iPhone app that stores drives on your phone and in your own iCloud account, with Slipway operating no location servers.
What you pay Miles for
The difference between TripLog Basic and Miles is not the detection. Both detect drives without a cap. Miles adds the Publication 463 record elements with odometer readings and year totals, the Table 5-2 log layout, the Schedule C line 9 and Part IV answers, a filled Form 2106, the CRA base year and simplified logbook modes, the both-methods deduction comparison, and a log that lives in your iCloud instead of a vendor account.
When TripLog is the better choice
TripLog is the better choice if price is the main concern, if you want a live connection to QuickBooks Online or SAP Concur, if you want a hardware beacon or the dedicated Drive device, if you are on Android or need the web app, or if you want a team plan. If you want an iPhone app that keeps your log in your own iCloud and produces the tax-form figures, Miles covers that.
Switching
Export your TripLog trips before you cancel. Miles imports a CSV of past trips so the year stays complete. Review note. CSV import of past trips needs a product decision.
