Miles vs. Everlance
Everlance tracks mileage and expenses, and on its top plan it also files your taxes. The free Basic plan detects 30 trips a month, Starter is $8.99 a month or $69.99 a year, and Professional is $99.99 a year with tax filing, an AI deduction finder, and what Everlance calls "$1 million audit defense". Everything is stored on Everlance's servers. Miles is a $9.99 a month iPhone app with no cap that stores drives in your own iCloud and exports the figures for your own or your accountant's return.
Note. Pricing and limit figures are as of September 2026. Check them again before publish.

The structural difference
Everlance is a service. The tracker feeds a cloud account that can also file your return and defend it. That is useful if you want one vendor for the whole job, and it means your drives, receipts, and tax details live on Everlance's servers. Miles is an app. It records what the IRS and CRA ask for, keeps it in your iCloud account, and hands the figures to whoever prepares your return, whether that is you, an accountant, or tax software.
Where the two overlap
Both detect drives automatically, both track expenses with receipt photos, and both produce IRS-oriented reports. Miles adds the Publication 463 Table 5-2 layout for the log, the Schedule C line 9 and Part IV answers, a filled Form 2106 for the taxpayers who may still file it, and the CRA base year and simplified logbook modes for Canada.
When Everlance is the better choice
Everlance is the better choice if you want tax filing and audit defense from the same vendor, if you are on Android or need the web dashboard, or if you want a team plan. If you want the tracker to be an iPhone app that keeps your log in your own iCloud and works with the tax preparer you already have, Miles covers that.
Switching
Export your Everlance trips as CSV before you cancel. Miles imports a CSV of past trips so the year stays complete. Review note. CSV import of past trips needs a product decision.
Miles is coming soon. It will start with a 14-day free trial and need no account.
