Hero overview

The landing-page demo video. It shows one continuous workflow. A drive is detected on its own, classified with a swipe, and exported at the end of the year. The drive is Sam's trip from Home to Sunset Dental.

Setup

  • Miles installed, Always location and Motion & Fitness granted, the Civic added, Home and Sunset Dental tagged as places.
  • The location fixture plays the Home to Sunset Dental drive, 4.2 miles, on a Tuesday morning in 2026.
  • The lock screen is visible at the start. Narration prerecorded or synthesized to match the lines below.

Scenes

Scene 1. The drive records itself (0:00–0:15)

  • On screen. The iPhone lock screen. The phone starts moving with the fixture. After a few seconds a Live Activity appears at the bottom of the lock screen reading "Driving · 0.3 mi". The distance counts up as the drive plays. Nothing is tapped.
  • Narration. "Miles notices when you start driving and records the drive. You do not open the app."
  • Capture notes. Keep the Live Activity legible. Speed up the drive playback after the first few seconds.

Scene 2. The drive appears in the list (0:15–0:30)

  • On screen. The drive ends. The app is opened to the Drives screen. At the top, under "Unclassified", is "Home to Sunset Dental · 4.2 mi · 9:12 AM". The row is swiped right and a green "Business" label slides in. The row moves down into "Today". Review note. On the sam-places fixture the Sunset Dental place rule already classifies this drive as Business, so the swipe needs a fixture variant without the tag, or the scene shows the rule instead.
  • Narration. "When you stop, the drive is waiting with its start, its end, and its distance. Swipe right for business, left for personal."

Scene 3. What the record holds (0:30–0:48)

  • On screen. The row is tapped. The Drive detail screen shows the route on a map, "Home" and "Sunset Dental" with their addresses, "4.2 miles", "Business", the note field, an "Add expense" button, and at the bottom "Recorded Tue, Mar 10, 2026 at 9:31 AM".
  • Narration. "Each drive keeps the date, the destination, the purpose, and the miles, which is what the IRS asks a mileage log to show, and it is recorded at the time you drove."
  • Capture notes. Zoom on the "Recorded" line and hold 2 s.

Scene 4. Rules do the rest (0:48–0:58)

  • On screen. Cut to Places. "Sunset Dental" is tapped. Its rule reads "Drives to or from this place are business". Cut back to Drives, where a second drive, "Sunset Dental to Home", is already labeled Business with no swipe.
  • Narration. "Tag the places you drive to for work, and the drives classify themselves."

Scene 5. Tax time (0:58–1:08)

  • On screen. Reports with the year picker set to 2026. Totals read "Business 11,842 mi · Deduction $8,846.12 · Parking and tolls $214.00". The Export button is tapped and the list shows "Mileage log PDF", "Tax summary PDF", "Form 2106", "Accountant package", "CSV", "Excel", "QuickBooks Online CSV", "JSON backup". "Accountant package" is tapped and the share sheet appears.
  • Narration. "At tax time, export the log and the tax summary your accountant asks for, in one package."
  • Capture notes. The totals must be legible, so hold 2 s on them before Export is tapped. The fixture year must contain enough drives to make the numbers plausible.

Scene 6. Close (1:08–1:15)

  • On screen. Text over a clean frame of the Drives screen. "Every drive, recorded on its own · Stays in your iCloud · IRS and CRA ready". The closing card reads "Miles. $9.99 a month, after a 14-day free trial."
  • Narration. "Miles. Free for fourteen days, then nine ninety-nine a month."
