Delivery shift

The video for the delivery drivers page. Sam runs a DoorDash dinner shift with six deliveries. The shift is one business record when it ends.

Setup

  • Miles installed with the Civic added. The DoorDash tag exists.
  • The location fixture plays the Tuesday dinner shift, 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., 38.6 miles, six stops, starting and ending at Home.

Scenes

Scene 1. Start the shift (0:00–0:10)

  • On screen. The Drives screen. At the top is a "Start shift" button. It is tapped. A sheet asks for a tag and "DoorDash" is chosen. The button becomes "End shift · 0:00" and a Live Activity appears on the lock screen reading "DoorDash shift · 0.0 mi".
  • Narration. "Going online for a delivery shift. Tap Start shift and pick the platform."

Scene 2. Deliveries (0:10–0:25)

  • On screen. The lock screen Live Activity with the miles counting up through the fixture, sped up. The stops tick by as "Stop 1 of 6", "Stop 2 of 6", and so on. Review note. Whether the Live Activity shows a stop count is a product decision.
  • Narration. "Every drive during the shift is business. The miles between orders count too, because you are driving for the same work."
  • Capture notes. Keep the Live Activity in frame the whole time. No app interaction.

Scene 3. End the shift (0:25–0:40)

  • On screen. Back in Drives, "End shift · 3:28" is tapped. A single row appears under "Today" reading "DoorDash shift · 6 stops · 38.6 mi · Business". It is tapped. The Drive detail screen shows the whole route on a map, "Home" to "Home", "6 stops", and a disclosure "Show 7 drives" which is tapped to reveal the individual drives underneath.
  • Narration. "End the shift and it becomes one record with the total miles and the stops. The IRS allows a single record for a route of deliveries, and the individual drives stay underneath it."
  • Capture notes. Zoom on the disclosure as it opens and hold 2 s on the drives it reveals.

Scene 4. Close (0:40–0:50)

  • On screen. Reports for 2026 with the tags filter set to "DoorDash". Totals read "DoorDash 6,214 mi". Then a text card. "Start shift. Deliver. End shift."
  • Narration. "At the end of the year, your delivery miles are one number, with the log behind it."
